Counselling, therapy and psychotherapy in Shoreham-by-Sea. People seek therapy at different points in their lives and for many unique reasons.
You may be feeling anxious, depressed or 'stuck'. There may be a sense of not reaching your potential, or there may be difficulties in a relationship. It may be health issues that bring you to counselling, or a mental-health diagnosis. You may have experienced a transition such as loss or bereavement or perhaps you wish to work through a traumatic experience.
I work with several models of therapy, including Person-Centered, Existential, Phenomenological, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. In the room, I will follow your lead and work in whichever way is most helpful for you.
The techniques are not as important as the relationship in therapy and I aim to ensure that you feel safe with me and comfortable to explore anything you wish. I am here to really listen to you, in confidence and with complete acceptance, and work together with you to understand where you are and what you need.
"You didn't come into this world. You came out of it, like a wave from the ocean, you are not a stranger here."
How does it work?
I offer short term counselling and longer term psychotherapy. In short term - the focus is often on resolution of a particular issue or problem. Longer term work enables deeper exploration of your personal patterns of relating to yourself, others and the world. You decide how long you wish to continue therapy for, and we can talk about it together, reviewing as we go.
Humanistic Therapy works in a way that heightens awareness of how your experiences of life and relationships, up until now, may still present in the Here-and-Now and how these experiences may be affecting your current relationships, behaviours, or physical or mental health today.
“Much of what we call personality is not a fixed set of traits, only coping mechanisms a person acquired in childhood” - Dr Gabor Mate
Therapy enables an opportunity to make sense of your experiences, and a safe place should you wish to release that which has got stuck in you, or that which no longer serves you. Integrating our experiences can help us feel more whole, lighter and more free in the world. This will always be taken at your pace.
Please feel free to contact me with any enquiries. No-obligation. I will get back to you as soon as I can.
